NOTES ABOUT THIS BIOTYPE
Stellaria media L. (common chickweed) with ALS inhibitor Resistance in Latvia.
Common chickweed is in the list of the most widespread weed species in Latvia. There were suspicions of herbicide resistance in 2013, resistance to ALS inhibitors was confirmed in the same field in 2016. ALS inhibitors (B group) were applied in 8 years during the time period from 2009 to 2016. In 5 of 8 years amidosulfuron was applied. Molecular analysis of the TSR mutations showed that there was a heterozygous mutation in Pro-197 site in 3 out of 8 tested individuals in the sample collected in 2013 and a homozygous mutation in Pro-197 one out of 8 tested individuals in the sample collected in 2016 (winter wheat). Such mutations indicate resistance to sulfonylurea herbicides.
